Prepare a Central Management Environment

The Central Management utility relies on individual Root Agents to gather the information of individual RAID subsystems. The Root Agents can be any selected computers installed with SANWatch on a local or remote network. The number of Root Agents to be applied depends on the locations and complexity of your storage network.

To enable a Root Agent, install SANWatch onto the selected computers using the "Custom" -> "Centralized Management" installation mode in the installation wizard. You should be able to see Root Agent in the software component list (often grayed out as a must component). Then you should open the Configuration Client utility, select "Admin Tool" -> "Auto Discovery," and select a corresponding IP range so that the polled and the polling sides can discover each other. Enable the Auto Discovery function and also the Startup Status.
