Software Setup Requirements

1. TCP/IP must be installed and running with a valid IP address assigned to a server. The server can either be used as a management center station, a remote SANWatch console, or directly attached with a RAID system using the in-band protocols.

2. Your system display must be capable of 16 bit color display or higher; otherwise, some configuration items may not be visible.

3. In-band access (via host links): Your RAID system must either be defined as a peripheral device or logical drives configured and mapped to host LUNs,
otherwise, the manager software will not be able to access the array.

4. Be certain that your system meets the minimum hardware and software requirements listed in the
System Requirements
section.

5. Check to be certain that the RAID arrays and controllers are installed properly. For the installation
procedure, see the documentation that came with the controller/subsystems.

6. Follow the directions provided in the Platform Requirements section to prepare for installation and
operation under different OS environments.

7. For event notification to work via fax or other methods, Windows MAPI and messaging service must be enabled on your management station. Please check details in the User's Manual.
