Creating a Logical Drive
 
 
 
 To Create a Logical Drive:
 
  1. Select Create Logical Drive from the Configuration category on the navigation tree. The Create Logical Drive window is displayed.
  2. Select members for the new logical drive by clicking drive icons in the Front View window. Select drives in a different enclosure by clicking the enclosure tab button. 
  3. Listed below are the icons used for different drive conditions:

New or healthy drive	Bad or empty drive	Spare drive

 * Bad drives or drives used by another logical drive are unavailable for the creation process. 

  4. Drives selected for a new logical drive will be listed in the Selected Members sub-window on the right side.
  5. RAID Level: Select a RAID level from the pull-down menu below. The RAID level can be modified using Migrate Logical Drive after the logical drive has been created. 
  6. Drive Size: Enter a smaller number if you do not want to use up all of the capacity this time. The unused capacity can be utilized later using the Expand Logical Drive function. 
  7. Wirte Policy: Define the write policy that will be applied to this array. "Default" means identical to the subsystem's default setting.
  8. Stripe Size: Select a stripe size; only recommended for experienced users. 
  9. LD Assignment: Select the RAID controller that will manage the logical drive.For example, if you have two logical drives, one logical drive is managed by controller A, and another by controller B. 
 10. Initialization: this allows you immediate availability of  the array. "Online" means the logical drive is immediately available for IOs and the initialization process can be automatically completed some time later.
 11. Click the OK button to complete the process. Click the Reset  button to redo or abort the process.
