Manually Create Snapshots
Once you are done with creating RAID volumes and have a clear concept of the uses of these volume, you can proceed with configuring snapshots.

Step 1. Select Configure Snapshot from the navigation tree of the manager software.
Step 2. Right-click on the Snapshot Container(s) area to display the "Create Snapshot Container" command.
Step 3. A selection window appears. Specify a RAID volume for the Snapshot Container and then specify another RAID volume as the Source Volume this Snapshot Container is referring to. (If volumes are partitions, single-click on a color segment to select a partition) Click OK to complete the process.
NOTE: When a new Snapshot Container is created, a subordinate Snapshot Set is created at the same time. You may create more Snapshot Sets and refer them to other source volumes.

Step 4. Create a Snapshot Image. Single-click on the manager's navigation tree "Maintain Snapshot."

Right-click on the "View and Edit Snapshot Set" field to bring out the command menu. Select Take Snapshot to complete the process.
This is a manual function, for information about automated snapshot scheduler with flush agent support, click here.
CAUTION! taking snapshots requires that you temporarily stop host I/Os and flush OS/application cache to avoid data inconsistencies.
The snapshot is taken immediately and the snapshotted image appears in the Snapshot Image field lower on the screen.
To access backup data in the snapshot images, map a snapshot image to a host LUN and the image will appear to the OS like a read-only source volume at its T0 state.
