Activate Data Service ( Snapshot)

Requirements for Using Data Service (Snapshot):

1. SANWatch or an individual Data Host agent is installed on a direct-attached data server using either the Full or Custom mode installation scheme.

NOTE: This release of SANWatch reduced installation mode options to the Full and the Custom modes.

The server communicates with the RAID system using in-band protocols. In this mode, the installed RAID agents will serve as flush agents so that scheduled snapshots can take place after flushing OS/application cache.

2. A remote console with the RAID system is also possible by installing SANWatch both on the direct-attached/SAN server and on the remote station.

The Data Host agents running on the data host function as the flush agents and also as the bridging element between the management software and the RAID firmware. Connection is made by connecting the data host IP instead of the RAID system LAN port IP.
